Wedding season is coming up... here are five top tips I give my couples...

2023 weddings will start this month for me and its a very exciting time!!! I’m photographing gorgeous couples in fabulous venues like The Fountain House (Manchester), St Philips Church (Salford), The Castlefield Rooms (Manchester), Cushendall Golf Club (whoop whoop for my home town), Swinton Town Hall (Salford) and Foxtail Barns (Stoke-On-Trent).

So in this time of high excitement and maybe slight nervousness for those taking the plunge, what’s the best advice I can give them?

  1. Let’s meet a month before the wedding

This is a great chance to have a free coffee on me lol. And also to talk through all the details and timeline for your day, your must have shots, your hopes and fears (in relation to photography mainly but also anything else you need to get off your chest!)

2. Put someone in charge of round ups

On the day you may not want any portraits or group shots, or you may want a few, or you may have an extensive and very welcome spreadsheet! The one thing you will want is for them to happen quickly (I suggest max 30 minutes). This is where your best person will excel. When Auntie Babs has disappeared to the bar they will delicately retrieve her and help us all out massively!

I said round ups, not rounds ; )

3. Relax and be in love

If you want relaxed, natural, candid photography with real emotion guess what? The best way to do this is to be relaxed and have a brilliant, emotional, loving, happy time… hug everyone, kiss everyone, dance, laugh, drink if you want to. Don't worry about how to pose or how to hold your flowers or where to put your hands. Have a good time and it will show. Let me worry about everything else : )

4. Don’t think about the weather

The best weather for me is dry and cloudy, you will want glorious sunshine, we might get rain. We put our request in and what will be will be. I always have a rainy day plan just in case ; )

5. And the most important thing…

…is that you end up bound together as your very own little family of two or ten or whatever that looks like for you. That’s what it’s all about. Everything else is a beautiful bonus xx
